In Kenya, coffee producing communities are represented in the form of a Farmer Cooperative Societies (FCS). An FCS performs a multitude of duties, including quality control at every step of the process, training and education for farmers, access to the global marketplace, preparation of produce for export, traceability systems (often times down to the very day and time when coffee was processed through the factory), and more. These producers are committed to sustainable, high quality coffee, and their represenation as part of an FCS is integral to their continued success."AB" denotes the sorted coffee seed size. Being about 30% of all of Kenya's production, AB is the middle ground in terms of size for specialty coffee in Kenya – just between AA (largest) and PB (smallest). It is actually a mixture of A, which is sorted using a 6.8 mm screen, and B, which is sorted using a 6.2 mm screen.
