Hario Woodneck Basic Recipe
A classic cloth-filter pour-over method that produces a rich, full-bodied cup with more natural oils than paper-filtered coffee. The cloth filter provides excellent clarity while maintaining body.

Rinse the cloth filter with hot water to remove any flavors and preheat the dripper

0:15 Add coffee grounds to the filter and gently shake to level the bed

0:30 Start your timer and pour about 50g of water to bloom the coffee. Let it sit for 30 seconds

1:00 Continue pouring in slow circles, adding water gradually until you reach 400g total by about 3 minutes

3:00 Keep the water level steady, never too high. Maintain consistent, gentle pours

3:30 Let it drain completely — total brew time should be 3½ to 4 minutes
