Growing regions

Huehuetenango

2 coffees

Highland region with some of Guatemala's highest elevations. Huehuetenango coffees typically feature bright acidity, floral notes, and distinctive wine-like qualities. The remote non-volcanic highlands produce some of the country's most distinctive coffees.

Antigua

1 coffee

Volcanic valley region producing full-bodied, complex coffees. Antigua coffees are known for their chocolate richness, spice notes, and balanced acidity. The region's volcanic soil and protective mountains create ideal growing conditions.

Sacatepéquez

1 coffee

Sacatepéquez is home to the renowned Antigua coffee region, situated at elevations of 5,000 to 5,600 feet in Guatemala's central highlands. The region benefits from a mild climate (64°F to 72°F), low humidity, and nutrient-rich volcanic soil from the surrounding volcanoes, which create ideal conditions for specialty coffee cultivation. The area is notable for having the longest history of coffee cultivation in Guatemala, producing distinctive high-quality coffee with a well-established reputation for premium specialty beans.

Sierra de Las Minas

1 coffee

Sierra de las Minas is a mountain range in eastern Guatemala, stretching 130 km and rising up to 3,015 meters, where coffee grows within and around a protected UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve rich in cloud forests and biodiversity. The region benefits from a highly distinctive microclimate — humid cloud forests on the east and dry desert-like terrain on the west — causing slow cherry maturation that deepens sweetness and clarity in the cup. Coffees from this region are known for their bright, balanced profile with fruit-forward and tea-like characteristics such as apple, lemon, and black tea notes, underpinned by rich volcanic and mineral-rich soils.

Acatenango

High-altitude region on the slopes of Acatenango volcano. Acatenango coffees often feature balanced acidity, full body, and complex notes of chocolate and stone fruits. The area's volcanic soil contributes to the coffee's character.

Atitlán

Region surrounding the famous volcanic lake. Atitlán coffees typically offer bold profiles with chocolate richness, bright acidity, and floral characteristics. Indigenous farmers grow coffee on the steep slopes surrounding the lake.

Cobán

Rainy, cloudy region with unique growing conditions. Cobán coffees often present distinct fruit acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate and spice. The constant mist (called "chipi-chipi") creates a unique microclimate.

Fraijanes

High-altitude plateau with significant volcanic activity. Fraijanes coffees offer bright acidity, full body, and notes of chocolate and spice. Recent volcanic activity continues to refresh the soil with minerals.

Nuevo Oriente

Eastern region with younger coffee cultivation history. Nuevo Oriente coffees often present balanced profiles with chocolate notes, mild acidity, and smooth body. The region is gaining recognition for quality production.

San Marcos

Warmest of Guatemala's growing regions with early harvest. San Marcos coffees typically display delicate acidity, medium body, and pronounced chocolate sweetness. The warm climate and early rains create a distinctive growing environment.
