Growing regions

### Western Province

  2 coffees

Region bordering Lake Kivu and DRC with ideal conditions. Western Province coffees typically feature bright citrus acidity, complex sweetness, and notes of orange, caramel, and black tea. The region includes many washing stations producing high-quality coffee.

### Nyaruguru

  1 coffee

Nyaruguru is Rwanda's most southerly district, situated in the Southern Province along the Burundian border and adjacent to the montane forests of Nyungwe National Park. Coffee estates here thrive in cool highland conditions at altitudes of 1,500–2,000 meters above sea level, where volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and slow cherry maturation yield beans with balanced sweetness, tea-like elegance, and refined acidity. The region primarily cultivates Red Bourbon Arabica, processed using the fully washed method, producing clean, aromatic cups with floral and fruit-forward notes that are gaining recognition in the specialty coffee world.

### Eastern Province

Lower elevation region with expanding coffee cultivation. Eastern Province coffees often display balanced profiles with mild acidity, medium body, and chocolate characteristics. The region has warmer temperatures than Rwanda's western areas.

### Kigali Province

Region surrounding the capital with mixed agriculture. Kigali Province coffees typically feature mild acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate and caramel with subtle fruit undertones. Urban expansion limits coffee cultivation in some areas.

### Lake Kivu

Region along the shores of Lake Kivu with ideal growing conditions. Lake Kivu coffees often present bright acidity, medium body, and complex flavor profiles with notes of orange, cane sugar, and spice. The lake moderates temperatures for coffee development.

### Northern Province

Mountainous region with volcanic soil and high elevation. Northern Province coffees often present vibrant acidity, medium body, and notes of red berries, citrus, and chocolate. The area includes significant specialty coffee development.

### Nyungwe

Region near Nyungwe Forest with cool, wet conditions. Nyungwe coffees typically offer bright acidity, medium body, and complex flavor profiles with floral notes, citrus, and black tea characteristics. The high elevation and forest proximity create unique conditions.

### Southern Province

Diverse region with varied growing conditions. Southern Province coffees typically offer balanced acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate, caramel, and subtle fruit. The region includes both traditional and newer coffee cultivation areas.
