Growing regions

### Northern Tanzania

  1 coffee

Northern Tanzania, particularly the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, is renowned for producing high-quality arabica coffee at elevations between 1,200-2,000 meters. The region benefits from volcanic soil, consistent rainfall, and cool mountain temperatures that create ideal conditions for developing complex, balanced flavor profiles with notes of citrus, chocolate, and spice. Tanzanian coffee from this region is prized for its medium body, bright acidity, and distinctive fruity characteristics that reflect the unique terroir of East Africa's premier coffee-growing area.

### Arusha

Northern region near Mount Meru with ideal growing conditions. Arusha coffees often present balanced acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate, stone fruit, and subtle spice. The region shares many characteristics with neighboring Kilimanjaro.

### Kigoma

Western region bordering Lake Tanganyika with unique conditions. Kigoma coffees often present balanced profiles with mild acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate and nuts. The lake influences the region's climate for coffee production.

### Kilimanjaro

Northern region on the slopes of Africa's highest mountain. Kilimanjaro coffees typically feature bright acidity, full body, and notes of black currant, chocolate, and citrus. The volcanic soil and high elevation contribute to distinctive flavor profiles.

### Mbeya

Southern highland region producing high-quality coffee. Mbeya coffees typically offer bright acidity, medium to full body, and notes of blackberry, chocolate, and citrus. The region includes the notable Mbeya and Mbozi districts.

### Mwanza

Northwestern region bordered by Lake Victoria. Mwanza coffees often display balanced profiles with medium acidity, body, and chocolate characteristics. The region has less coffee production than Tanzania's major growing areas.

### Ruvuma

Southern region including the Mbinga district with quality coffee. Ruvuma coffees typically offer bright acidity, full body, and notes of black tea, citrus, and dark chocolate. The region produces some of Tanzania's most distinctive coffees.

### Songwe

Southern region formerly part of Mbeya with quality production. Songwe coffees often display complex acidity, full body, and notes of black tea, citrus, and berry fruit. The region's high plateaus provide ideal growing conditions.

### Tarime

Northern district bordering Kenya with similar growing conditions. Tarime coffees typically feature bright acidity, medium body, and vibrant fruit notes with chocolate undertones. The region shares characteristics with nearby Kenyan growing areas.
