Growing regions

### Bulambuli

  1 coffee

Bulambuli is a coffee-growing district in Eastern Uganda, situated on the volcanic slopes of Mount Elgon near the Kenyan border, at altitudes ranging from 1,800 to 2,300 metres above sea level. The region produces high-quality Arabica varieties—primarily SL-14, SL-28, and SL-34—nurtured by fertile volcanic soils, consistent rainfall, and a cool highland climate. Coffees from Bulambuli are noted for their bright acidity, complex fruit-forward notes, and clean cup profile, making them among Uganda's most prized specialty offerings.

### Kapchorwa

  1 coffee

Kapchorwa is a high-altitude coffee-growing district in Eastern Uganda, situated on the slopes of Mount Elgon at elevations up to approximately 2,300 meters, where volcanic soils and a temperate, rainfall-rich climate create exceptional conditions for Arabica production. The region, part of the broader Sebei sub-region, is home to thousands of smallholder farmers cultivating varieties such as SL14, SL28, and native Bugisu types, producing coffees noted for their fruity, wine-like character with hints of citrus, black cherry, and semi-sweet chocolate. Kapchorwa is recognized as one of Uganda's premier specialty coffee origins, with its washing stations and farmer cooperatives increasingly connecting producers to high-end international markets.

### Mt. Elgon

  1 coffee

Mt. Elgon, an extinct shield volcano straddling the Uganda-Kenya border in eastern Uganda, produces some of the country's most prized Arabica coffee, known locally as Bugisu Arabica, at altitudes ranging from 1,500 to 2,300 meters above sea level. The rich volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and ample rainfall slow cherry maturation and intensify sugar development, resulting in a bright, well-balanced cup. Flavor notes typically include floral and citrus aromas, stone fruit, dark chocolate, and a clean, bright acidity with a smooth finish.

### Bugisu

Eastern region that sometimes refers to all Mount Elgon coffees. Bugisu coffees often display bright citrus acidity, winey characteristics, full body, and chocolate undertones. The region has a long tradition of quality coffee production.

### Bunyoro

Western region with diverse agricultural production. Bunyoro coffees typically offer balanced acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate and nuts. The region primarily produces robusta but has expanding arabica cultivation in higher areas.

### Mount Elgon

Eastern region on the slopes of an extinct volcano. Mount Elgon coffees typically feature bright acidity, medium body, and notes of tropical fruit, chocolate, and citrus. The region produces much of Uganda's high-quality arabica.

### Rwenzori

Western mountain range also called "Mountains of the Moon". Rwenzori coffees often present balanced profiles with mild fruit acidity, medium body, and chocolate sweetness. The mountains create varied microclimates for coffee cultivation.

### Sipi

Area on Mount Elgon with a notable washing station. Sipi coffees typically feature bright citrus acidity, clean sweetness, and notes of black tea, caramel, and stone fruit. The region produces some of Uganda's most distinctive specialty coffees.

### Wagagai

Highest point on Mount Elgon with surrounding coffee areas. Wagagai coffees often present complex profiles with bright acidity, full body, and vibrant fruit notes. The high-elevation growing conditions contribute to quality development.

### West Nile

Northwestern region bordering DRC and South Sudan. West Nile coffees typically offer mild acidity, medium body, and notes of chocolate, nuts, and subtle fruit. The area primarily produces coffee at moderate elevations.
